How it works

The browser’s Speech Synthesis API reads your text. Whether a voice is fully offline depends on the OS and browser vendor.

Before you start

  • Chrome and Edge usually list more voices.
  • Some browsers require a user gesture before the first play.
  • Prefer voices marked as local/offline in your OS settings when privacy matters.
